The Balanced Care Method

The Balanced Care Method is based on studies of the extraordinarily long-lived elders in the Okinawa region of Japan.  Life spans of over 100 years are not unusual there.  More importantly, people in their 70s, 80s and beyond enjoy incredibly good health and independence.  Excellent physical health, mental awareness and inner calm are common among the elders in Okinawa.  The Balanced Care Method seeks to capture some of the lifestyle factors that go towards creating such long-lived and healthy people.
The Balanced Care Method can be summed up in two words: moderation and variety. Moderation and variety of diet, moderation and variety of activities, moderation and variety of relationships, moderation and variety in the way time is spent.

The Balanced Care Method promotes nutrition, physical activity, mental stimulation, maintaining social ties and giving the patient a sense of calmness and purpose.
